Knowledge is empowering! Up-to-date neurosurgical knowledge would empower a neurosurgeon whether she is working in New York or Jaffna, for the betterment of patients! The Internet does allow for efficient and effective means of transferring of knowledge and sharing expertise amongst neurosurgeons despite any geographical separation.
The aim of the 'International Textbook of Neurosurgery' is to provide an opportunity for the International neurosurgery community to contribute to build a neurosurgical body of knowledge, which is kept updated and is free at the point of access to neurosurgeons, residents and medical students from around the World.
The 'International Textbook of Neurosurgery' (ITN) would provide neurosurgeons tools for directly contributing chapters and keeping them up-to-date, with oversight from the Editor and an Editorial Board.
I dedicate this project to my mentors Mr Prem Pillay (Singapore), Professor Sam Eljamel (Dundee), Professor David Mendelow (Newcastle), Dr Robert Fink (Berkeley), Dr George Jallo (Baltimore), Dr Konstantin Slavin (Chicago), Dr Fady Charbel (Chicago), Professor Jurgen Meixensberger (Leipzig), Professor Leonidas Quintana (Valparaiso), Dr Robert Harbaugh (Hershey) and Dr Laligam Sekhar (Seattle)!
